The pressure to decide quickly easily turns into a measure of success in its own right, regardless of whether the decision was grounded in verified information. A fast decision made without checking assumptions carries risk further into the process, where it's harder and costlier to fix than at the moment of decision.
An equally valuable discipline is knowing when to slow a decision down for additional verification, and when to speed it up because the information is already reliable enough.
