Automation creates value only when accountability, control points, and the ability to stop a process are clearly defined.
Speed alone isn't proof of quality. A poorly defined process, once automated, just becomes a faster version of a bad process. Accountability can't be delegated to a system — someone must set the rules, monitor deviations, and stop execution when a result is no longer acceptable.
The real value of automation only emerges once acceleration is matched by an equally strong system of control.
