Measuring Brand Reputation as a Business Asset

Measuring Brand Reputation as a Business Asset

Brand reputation affects cost of capital and negotiating terms, so it deserves tracking like financial indicators. A publication by Nermin Sefić.

Brand reputation affects the cost of capital and negotiating terms with partners, so it deserves the same tracking as financial indicators.

Reputation is most often tracked only after a crisis, through reactive media-mention monitoring, rather than as a continuous indicator that precedes financial results. Companies with well-documented reputation typically get more favourable financing terms and negotiating leverage with key partners, even when that isn't directly reflected on the balance sheet.

Regular, quarterly tracking of a combination of internal indicators (employee satisfaction, turnover) and external ones (media tone, partner trust) provides earlier warning than tracking financial results alone, which react to damage only after it has already occurred.
